Flexible automation for intralogistics in the interior design sector

Settore: Interior design

In a high-end artisanal context within the interior design sector, Polytec Intralogistics delivered a tailor-made solution to optimize the internal handling of trolleys containing leather and fabrics, used throughout the production process — from cutting to sorting, and then to stitching and assembly.

The goal was to introduce a flexible, easily reprogrammable solution, compatible with the trolleys already in use, without altering established workflows or the operators’ routines. The system also needed to adapt quickly to layout changes and evolving processes in a dynamic production environment.

To meet these requirements, the Voyager S70 AGV was implemented — a compact autonomous vehicle designed to handle existing trolleys even in narrow spaces. Transport missions are managed manually by operators, who can call the AGV to move trolleys from one workstation to another as needed.

No floor-mounted guides or mechanical stops are required: each trolley is placed freely within designated bays. Thanks to intelligent sensors and a special conical centering system, the AGV can detect the trolley’s position and pick it up even if not perfectly aligned.

A flexible, intuitive, and non-invasive solution that enabled automation of internal logistics without disrupting the existing organization, bringing immediate improvements in efficiency, operational continuity, and work quality.
