What are low-profile AMRs/AGVs?

Autonomous mobile robots with a compact design and low-profile structure, engineered to move underneath racks, carts and load structures to transport materials without fixed infrastructures.

Polytec Intralogistics low-profile AMRs and AGVs are the ideal solution for automating the internal transport of components, semi-finished products and materials between production lines, warehouses and assembly areas. Their low-profile design — with a ground clearance down to 25 mm — allows them to operate underneath existing structures without modifying the plant layout.

Unlike traditional carts, Voyager robots navigate autonomously thanks to 360° laser scanners and SLAM algorithms, calculating the optimal route in real time and adapting to obstacles. Every mission is coordinated by the fleet management software and synchronized with ERP and WMS systems, ensuring complete traceability of every transport operation.

The Voyager series covers load capacities from 500 to 2000 kg with four progressive models. All models share the same software architecture, automatic wireless charging and EN ISO 3691-4 certification for operation in environments shared with people.

The right model for every flow

Applications

Where low-profile AMRs/AGVs operate

Assembly lines

Automatic supply of workstations with component kits, eliminating waiting times and synchronizing material flow with the production pace.

Internal warehouses

Automatic transfer between racks, picking areas and shipping zones, with complete traceability of every movement through ERP and WMS systems.

WIP and inter-department buffers

Continuous handling of semi-finished products between adjacent departments, with missions automatically generated by production orders from the management system.

Food, pharma and cleanroom

Environments with strict hygiene and regulatory requirements: Voyager robots operate without human contact, reducing contamination risks and ensuring operational continuity.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Both feature a low-profile design, but they differ in navigation autonomy. Voyager AMRs (50, S70, S100) dynamically calculate the optimal route thanks to sensors and SLAM algorithms, adapting to obstacles in real time. Voyager 200, classified as an AGV, follows highly optimized routes with high repeatability. The choice depends on the variability of the environment: dynamic environments with people and frequent layout changes are better suited to AMRs.

Voyager robots autonomously move to the wireless charging station when the battery level drops below the configured threshold. The process takes place without human intervention and can be scheduled by the fleet manager during periods of lower activity. Charging from 20% to 80% takes less than 60 minutes, ensuring operational continuity even in intensive 24/7 operating scenarios.

Yes. All Voyager models are EN ISO 3691-4 certified for operation in shared environments. They integrate two laser scanners with 360° coverage up to 9 meters and 64 programmable safety zones. In the presence of people or obstacles, the robot automatically slows down or stops, resuming its route as soon as the area is clear.

The choice mainly depends on the required load capacity and lifting needs. Voyager 50 and S70 are ideal for light and medium loads in production lines. Voyager S100 is designed for intensive flows with loads up to 1000 kg. Voyager 200 is the solution for handling heavy pallets up to 2000 kg. The Polytec team performs a free flow analysis to identify the optimal configuration.
